Karl Konstantin Albrecht Leohardt von Blumenthal

Awards: Pour le Mérite - 21 April 1864, Iron Cross 1st Class - 1870, Order of the Black Eagle - 1877
He was awarded the Pour le Mérite Order in recognition of outstanding leadership and distinguished military planning and operations.
Later in 1866 September 17 he was awarded the Oakleaves in recognition of outstanding leadership and distinguished military planning and operations during the 1866 campaigns. He was promoted to Lieutenant General and also became a Commander of the Order of the House of Hohenzollern. And finally on April 22, 1898, the fourth award of the Pour le Mérite Order with Diamonds was made on this date. It had been 89 years since the last award of it kind had been made by King Friedrich Wilhelm III.
Her was awarded the Pour le Mérite with Diamonds on the occasion of his 90th birthday. Kaiser Wilhelm II gave it the award in recognition the General Field Marshal's extraordinary and distinguished military career and as a belatedly acknowledgement of his outstanding distinction 34 years prior during the battle at Düppel during the 1864 Schleswig-Holstein War.
In 1883 he was made a Count and in 1888 rose to the rank of Field Marshal.
