Max von Fabeck

He was awarded the Pour le Mérite for outstanding leadership and distinguished military planning and succesful operations during the 1914-15 campaigns in Belgium and northern France. Also in recognition of the successful battles at Mons, La Câteau and at the Ourcq river. General Fabeck received a personal telegram from the Emperor, Wilhem II advising and congratualating him on the award.
